Alex Cropley played his first game for Arsenal Vs Carlisle United on 07/12/1974 in the Football League (A 1-2) ; ie : a week after his last game for Hibs (30/11/1974).
He joined Aston Villa in September 1976, from Arsenal.

Other info :-
Alex's father, John, played for Aldershot as a wing-half between 1947 and 1953. He made 162 FL appearances and scored 3 goals in his career.

Other clubs - Newcastle United (loan), Toronto Blizzard (Canada) and Portsmouth.
Portsmouth awarded him a testimonial Vs Aston Villa on 23/08/1982.
After finishing playing he ran 'Cropley's Bar' in Easter Road. Currently, drives a taxi in Edinburgh.
