Bernard Donaghy joined up with the Irish Regiment Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, and was killed in action on 1st July 1916, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme. He is buried at Mill Road Cemetery, Thiepval.

Bernard Donaghy is not buried at Mill Road Cemetery.
His body was never found and his name in listed on the Thiepval Memorial to The Missing
