He was a class act in the great Hibs team of the late 1940s/early 1950s, an 'unsung' hero perhaps. Unlucky not to have earned any representative honours, - arguably his leg break in 1954 hampered his international hopes.
Also played for Cowdenbeath. Latterly he was a scout for St Mirren.

One of those players unjustly forgotten behind the glamour of the Famous 5.

Sadly he passed away many years ago in his 50's. Very proud of my grandad, thank you for your comments, lovely to hear.

Archie was my father and sadly died on 12.12.1983.. He was a wonderful dad and friend to many. He will always be remembered and sadly missed his 4 grandchildren growing up and now his seven great-grand children.

I was 16 years and playing Boys' Brigade football in Inverleith Park in Edinburgh. After changing at the end of the game I came out to meet my father, who was the BB captain, and he was talking to a gentleman.. It was Archie and he asked me if I would like to come and play for Edinburgh Thistle. He was so kind and helpful and I accepted. I had a great time there! That was 1967!!!
