Despite the absence of several 'regulars' Hibs were actually 2-0 up at half-time, before a surprising second-half collapse. Andy Penman (pen), Eric Sellars and John Fletcher were on target for the hosts.

Willie Murray, making his first competitive start, was replaced by Bobby Smith.
