Scorers:-Hibs-Milne(7 and 62min.),Combe(21,64,78 and 79min.),Smith(40 and 89min.);Rangers-Venters(pen.,28min.).

This was not a "scratch" Rangers war-time team. The line-up was Dawson; Gray and Shaw; Bolt, Woodburn and Little; McIntosh and Gillick; Smith; Venters and Johnston. Having said that, their cause was not helped when Woodburn was badly injured and moved to outside-right for the second half. He subsequently had to have a cartilage operation.
