It was clear from this game that Eddie Turnbull was trying things out for next season. Joe Harper was dropped, Pat Stanton was consigned to the bench and Mick Wilson and Lindsay Muir were given a run. Rangers took advantage and won with goals from Alex MacDonald, Martin Henderson and Derek Johnstone.

Stanton replaced Barry.
