St Mirren went into the lead through an early goal by centre-forward Peter Kane. Hibs had a chance to equalise, but Peter Cormack had his penalty saved by 'keeper Denis Connaghan. However, just past the hour, a second penalty was awarded and skipper Joe Davis made no mistake.

Scott replaced Stevenson.

Referee :- R.H. Davidson, Airdrie.
