Jim Scott's scoring header was fisted from under the bar by St Johnstone right-half Bill McCarry and Neil Martin smashed home the resultant penalty. Eric Stevenson scored the second with a 20-yard drive.

Jock Stein said - "We had to struggle for some time to master St Johnstone's defensive set-up last week, though the result was never in doubt."
