Charlie Aitken (1959-76, Aston Villa) was a left-back and one of Villa's all-time greats. Spent 17 seasons with the club, amassing a record 561 League appearances. A model of consistency during those years, he won a League Cup winners' tankard in 1975 and runners-up prizes in the same competition in 1963 and 1971.

Joined New York Cosmos (NASL) in the summer of 1976.
